Nearly 850,000 people could escape poverty if Ghana’s agricultural productivity were to double over the next 12 years, according to research.
“A thriving agrifood system could cut poverty in half, create hundreds of thousands of new jobs, and drive economic growth,” said James Thurlow, a senior research fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute, in the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s annual Goalkeepers economic report.
