Northumbrian Water has claimed overall victory in the CIPS Supply Management Awards 2018.

At a glittering ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London last night the great and the good gathered to celebrate the best of the procurement profession.

The utility, which supplies 4.5m people across the northeast and southeast of England, also picked up Best Contribution to Corporate Responsibility.

The organisation has been on a journey to redefine how procurement delivers value to the business, providing a competitive advantage and helping the company become the industry leader of sustainable water and waste water services.

The judges were impressed with this approach to corporate responsibility, praising the team’s plan, which pinpointed clear objectives and benefits, and offered some great initiatives.

“An outstanding, first-class piece of work. The procurement team clearly engaged across an array of internal and external stakeholders,” judges said.
