Australia’s auditor general is to launch an investigation into the procurement of $1bn worth of garrison support, security and welfare services for offshore immigration processing centres in Papua New Guinea.
The audit, which is set to be completed in January 2020, was launched after extensive media and parliamentary criticism of the lucrative contracts issued to several controversial companies by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA).
