Sydney commits to 100% renewable energy

The City of Sydney Council has announced it will negotiate a new energy supply contract to power 100% of its large infrastructure using renewable energy by 2021.

The council has committed to purchase only 100% renewable wind or solar energy to power large city-owned buildings, such as public swimming pools and libraries, to offset carbon emissions from smaller sites when its current energy supply contract for council-owned infrastructure expires at the end of 2019.
