The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) aims to pass a bill to boost local medicine production and the pharmaceutical industry in the East African Community (EAC).
The bill would promote the production of medicines in the region and regulate good manufacturing practices and quality standards. It would promote preference for pharmaceuticals produced in the EAC within public procurement processes.
