Plans revealed by the New South Wales (NSW) government will see up to 15,000km of council-owned regional roads “reclaimed” by the state as part of a commitment to improve the condition of regional and rural local roads.
The plans, announced by deputy premier of NSW John Barilaro and minister for roads, maritime and freight Melinda Pavey, will also see over $1bn handed to councils for roads maintenance and repairs on NSW’s worst timber bridges.
