Countries should pool procurement and use the African Continental Free Trade Area to reduce the costs of medicines and healthcare.
The call was made during a meeting organised by the UN’s Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, which was told the continent needed an “uninterrupted supply of pharmaceutical drugs”.
