South Africa’s finance minister Tito Mboweni has said centralised procurement for personal protective equipment (PPE) is being considered following several scandals.
An investigation has been launched by the government after it was claimed a company owned by the husband of the president’s official spokesperson won a R125m ($7.4m) contract to supply PPE to the Gauteng provincial health department.
