Ethiopian prime minister Abiy Ahmed has written to the G20 countries calling for interest payments on debts to be cancelled and some debt to be written off due to the coronavirus.
Ahmed called for extra support from the IMF and World Bank and said that the virus posed an “existential threat to the economies of African countries”.
