Record sales for world's biggest online shopping event

China’s Singles Day – the world’s largest shopping event – has counted on more than 4,000 planes and ships to deliver merchandise across China and around the world.

The event, organised by online retailer Alibaba had led to record sales of goods worth $56bn by Wednesday morning GMT, Alibaba said.
