Council changes procurement policy to ensure ethical sourcing

A New Zealand pressure group has welcomed Auckland City Council’s decision to amend its procurement policy to ensure added scrutiny of procurement of buses from a Chinese company.

Uyghur Solidarity Aotearoa New Zealand said it was “proud” of the council’s Finance & Performance Committee’s unanimous vote to require all suppliers to comply with international standards of human rights across their supply chain.
