Converting refinery into import hub 'risk to fuel security'

The Maritime Union of New Zealand (MUNZ) is calling for a network of coastal tankers to ensure fuel security following the announced closure of a major refinery.

MUNZ is calling for a levy to be charged to help fund a network of fuel tankers and insulate the country from supply chain shocks it believes are increasingly likely after Refining NZ confirmed it would close its Marsden Point oil refinery in April 2022.
