Drug-IT Solutions and InvestiPharm have partnered as part of efforts to coordinate drug supply chains and improve patient outcomes in Nigeria.
A partnership between tech platform Drug-IT Solutions and pharmaceutical supply chain financing firm InvestiPharm are looking to strengthen Pharmaceutical supply chains in Africa.
The two companies, which are both undergoing seed funding rounds, are working together to change how drugs are distributed via an online, B2B platform to connect buyers and suppliers along the pharmaceutical supply chain.
Odili Nonso, CEO of Drug-IT Solutions and founder of InvestiPharm, told BusinessDay: “With funding, the company will be well-positioned to expand its operations across the country, enhance its logistics capabilities, expand its marketing efforts, and improve its technology infrastructure for even better patient outcomes.”
The company, which was founded in 2019, provides an online marketplace for pharmacies, hospitals, and medical professionals to buy medication and medical devices efficiently. The wholesale procurement platform intends to expand out from Nigeria imminently and provide supply chain services to other countries.
InvestiPharm, meanwhile, offers financial credits to health businesses operating within Nigeria’s pharmaceutical supply chain and enables pharmacies to offer affordable and accessible medications.
Pharmacies are able to receive products on a post-sale credit basis, and the company has partnered with drug manufacturers, importers and distributors to ensure the last mile has access to safe and quality medicines.
Earlier this year a WEF report outlined the difficulties faced by Africa in reducing reliance on foreign medical suppliers. It said the African Union (AU) and the Africa CDC’s Partnership for African Vaccine Manufacturing Framework for Action offered a possible blueprint for accelerating local manufacturing in a coordinated way.
