The procurement Olympics

22 August 2008
Blog picBritain’s gold rush at the Beijing Olympics has been utterly compelling. No doubt it has been the buzz of offices up and down the country, with surreptitious staff fuelling quiet updates to willing ears. Notable contributions have been made in the cycling, rowing and sailing in which we seem to display consistent competence. While this has made for an exciting distraction during the day, all the success has got me thinking, what if there was a procurement Olympics?! How would your organisation fair in different disciplines such as negotiation, supplier relationship management and stakeholder satisfaction? What skills would you have to display to achieve greatness? Are there any procurement teams, other than your own, that you admire and would hold up as gold medal contenders?
