Surprise phone call

4 January 2010
It can be a quiet period for news over Christmas, so any company putting out a press release that’s a little quirky might expect a bit more coverage than usual. My winner in terms of business news has to be BT Conferencing for their little gem about how conference calls are changing the way we work. According to a survey carried out by the firm, one-fifth of people have taken part in a conference call stark naked. It also claimed 68 per cent of people have dialled in wearing their pyjamas and half wearing just their underwear. I’ll leave it up to you whether you consider this to be alarming or exciting – it depends on who is on the other end of the call, I would imagine.
