Are you a passionate, motivated and organised individual with a strong track record and good communication skills?
Then you are just the sort of person the majority of UK companies are looking for, as those are the top buzzwords found in recruitment adverts.
A study of half a million job adverts by a recruitment website recently found 20 per cent of UK adverts are looking for communication skills, 18 per cent are looking for someone who is passionate, and 12 per cent are looking for someone who is motivated (as if you would advertise for the opposite?).
The site believes the overuse of familiar words creates “ad blindness” among candidates, and they fail to make an impression.
This would be a great starting point for those looking for ideas to make procurement stand out and become the “profession of choice
”? If the figures above are correct, it shouldn’t be too difficult to make your advert distinct by being a little more creative in what you are asking for. The website suggests more clarity about what you want will also improve the quality of responses.
Some companies are taking a more inventive and less traditional approach. The same survey also found a surprisingly high 596 businesses are looking for a guru and 71 are looking for someone who would describe themselves as a ninja. One company is even looking for a Jedi.
