Fierce competition among top-quality entries in CIPS SM Awards

18 June 2013

Rebecca Ellinor, managing editor, Supply ManagementAnd so it’s that time again – the eagerly anticipated announcement of the individuals and companies that have made it on to the shortlist for the CIPS Supply Management Awards.

Once more this year the quality of the entries has risen, giving the judges plenty to debate when they met to compare scores and produce the shortlist this month. Competition in the individual categories – professional and young professional of the year – is more fierce than ever and 2013 sees a new category added, ‘Procurement’s CEO of the Year’ to enable the profession to recognise the efforts of senior stakeholders. The winner in this category will be announced together with the others on the night of the black-tie dinner on 11 September at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. Table sales for this sell-out event are already open and being booked up. To secure your place on the night, click here or call 0044 (0)207 880 7555. Ahead of that, a party will be held in London on 18 July for all those who made it on to the shortlist – so if you or your team are named today, save the date. This year’s high-profile compère for the main event in September has been announced as The Dead Ringers impressionist Jon Culshaw. The comedian has a repertoire of more than 350 voices, from Dale Winton to Ozzy Osbourne, Michael McIntyre to Russell Crowe. If you didn’t make it on to the shortlist this year, there’s always the 2014 awards, which will open for entries in February. In the meantime, best of luck to those who did and we’ll see you on the night.
