GCHQ’s Commercial Business Unit manages all aspects of commercial risk for the department; from the purchase of goods, services and facilities management to the provision of consultancy advice on commercial strategy and decisions.
Achieving the CIPS Platinum Award required an extensive programme of strategic procurement and a step change in the maturity of the procurement processes and people, led entirely by an in-house team. GCHQ’s procurement processes and systems were found to be operating at an advanced level, creating strategic value and being fully embedded within the organisation.
Andrew Coulcher, CIPS Group Director of Knowledge and Membership said: “The support shown by GCHQ senior management towards achieving the CIPS Platinum Award recognises the importance of procurement to the organisation. It also demonstrates a commitment to ensuring the team are continually progressing and delivering a service that meets professional standards.
“This is an excellent achievement, one that GCHQ, the commercial team, their partners, clients and customers should be very proud of.”
CIPS Corporate Certification at platinum standard demonstrates an organisation delivers world-class procurement in terms of their level of influence, control, and involvement with partners, suppliers and internal colleagues.
The certificate was received by the Deputy Director Commercial, GCHQ and presented by Andrew Coulcher.
