A new deal to secure the long-term future of GM Holden could be completed inside six months, allaying supplier fears that the company’s future was at risk.
South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill said he will insist any investment comes with clear commitments to secure the future of the South Australian plant and the component industries which supply Holden in South Australia.
"There are a whole range of component suppliers that rely upon the Elizabeth plant so we're talking about not only the 2500 jobs that exist at Elizabeth but we're talking about the many hundreds and hundreds of jobs that exist in our automotive suppliers," he said.
