A Bill tabled in federal parliament is proposing to give Fair Work Australia the power to scrutinise the transport supply chain and issue remuneration orders to improve safety.

It comes after a report linking low pay rates and unsafe practices whereby supply chain customers are forcing transport providers to sit in queues for hours on end. Rejecting claims from sections of the transport and logistics industry that deny a link between pay and safety exists, federal Infrastructure and Transport Minister Anthony Albanese says “countless” inquiries over more than 10 years have all reached the same conclusion: “the nation’s truck drivers deserve safe rates.” Read more here. http://www.supplychainreview.com.au/news/articleid/78184.aspx
