The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) and the Zambia Institute of Purchasing & Supply (ZIPS) have signed an agreement to work together to enhance professional procurement in the Africa region.
The institutes will focus on Membership, Events, Education and advocacy and will set a benchmark for other opportunities for CIPS Africa to collaborate with other in-country local institutes.
The two institutes will be developing projects and campaigns on membership, events, education and advocacy and hoping to build a joint membership offering so professionals can get the best out of each institute and receive both global and regional support.
CIPS Africa agrees to support ZIPS in ensuring the requirements of the ZIPS act are fulfilled ensuring Zambia is at the forefront of strong education, delivered, assessed and awarded with integrity and transparency according to internationally recognised standards. A clear educational pathway for procurement professionals in Zambia will be defined and developed, leading to the internationally-recognised MCIPS.
André Coetzee, Managing Director at CIPS Africa said, “It is a milestone agreement that will deliver value for the profession, organisations and members in Zambia.”
George Chiti Mumba President of the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS) added, “The collaboration between the two organisations will lead to increased sharing of the information and ideas and create potential to achieve joint gains.
“Through this partnership it is anticipated that the Supply Chain Management function will move forward and grow at a faster pace in Zambia and ultimately in Africa. ”

The Zambia Institute of Procurement & Supply (ZIPS) is a membership organisation regulating the practice of purchasing and supply management professionals in Zambia. This professional body was created through an act of parliament and currently it has 3000 registered members.
