Royal Mail goes platinum with CIPS certification

Royal Mail procurement team first globally to be awarded platinum status

Royal Mail Group’s Procurement team is the first globally to be awarded the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply’s platinum standard for excellence.

The Platinum Corporate Certification Advanced Standard for procurement and supply was awarded following an 18 month certification process.  Areas the procurement team had to demonstrate leading edge performance included leadership and organisation, policies, processes and systems, and performance measurement and management.

David Noble, Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply, said: “The Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply has introduced a Platinum Corporate Certification Advanced Standard to set the bar even higher in terms of global excellence in procurement and supply management. I’m delighted that Royal Mail is the first company to achieve Platinum status.

“Royal Mail’s submission was extremely thorough and impressive. They had strong, and comprehensive policies and a group-wide balanced scorecard process so deserved to be awarded this prestigious status. The procurement team evidently has a high profile and are influential in the business because senior members of the team contribute to various boards across the business. Buyers in the team take a strategic view of the categories they manage and good category management is fully deployed. Monthly category boards help develop best practice and consistent working across all the category teams. We look forward to continuing to work with Royal Mail and revisiting their certification in 18 months and we will continue to support them to maintain their platinum status.”
