The SA/NT Committee held its first event of 2016 on Tuesday, 16 February featuring presentations on the topics ‘Supplier Relationship Management’ and ‘Best in Procurement’.
Speakers Adam Zaknik (DCSI) and Jennie Vickers (IACCM) with event organiser Lee Houlson (BAE Systems and CIPS SA/NT Committee) and Mark Lamb (CIPS GM Asia Pacific)
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of BAE Systems, more than 60 people escaped the comfort of their beds for the breakfast gathering at Adelaide’s Crown Plaza Hotel.
Despite the IT seemingly struggling with the early start, International Association for Contract & Commercial Management’s (IACCM) Director for Australia and New Zealand, Jennie Vickers, was the first to speak - providing an engaging and entertaining talk on supplier relationship management and how it adds value to an organisation.
Mark Lamb, the CIPS General Manager of Asia Pacific, then provided an update on what was happening in the CIPS arena, including announcing this year’s Supply Management awards and advised that you needed to be in it to win it.
Following Mark’s speech, 2015 Supply Management Award winner, Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI,) provided a presentation delivered by its Senior Procurement Advisor, Adam Zaknik.
Adam spoke about the DCSI’s winning submission in last year’s awards for Best Public Procurement Project, affording a great insight into a collaborative procurement exercise between SA and Victoria for domiciliary and disability equipment.
Overall, the feedback from the event was very positive and planning is underway for further events.
Thanks to all those who attended and also thanks to those who completed feedback sheets. These will be reviewed at next week’s committee meeting.
