Star speakers shine at Victorian regional event

CIPS 11 May 2016

Victorian procurement professionals flocked to Crown Metropol on Wednesday as guest speakers The Hon. Jeff Kennett AC and Dr Sara Cullen provided a masterclass in Contract Management at the latest CIPS Victorian regional event.

Organised by the CIPS Victorian Committee and supported by Open Windows, the event drew a capacity crowd of over 80 attendees that were treated to glorious Melbourne skyline views from within the hotel’s 28 Skybar Lounge, serving as a fitting backdrop to the calibre of presenters on hand.
After some cool drinks and delicious canapes, CIPS Australasia’s General Manager – Asia Pacific, Mark Lamb, welcomed attendees and highlighted some of the many tools, templates and whitepapers available to CIPS members through the CIPS website.
Yoni Meinrath was announced as the new Chair of the Victorian Committee, taking over the reins from Paul Thomas who was thanked for his many years of dedication to the Committee.
Following a warm welcome from Open Window’s CEO, Adam McInnes, the audience was treated to the familiar booming voice of the Hon. Jeff Kennett AC, as the former Victorian Premier and Non-Executive Chairman of Open Windows captivated all before him covering a multitude of topics.
Not only touching on his experience through his political career, Mr Kennett also expanded on some of the many contracts he has been involved in both throughout his career, highlighting the key ingredients in generating the best outcomes after the initial contract is reached.
Mr Kennett also took the time to address his work with Beyond Blue, imploring attendees to recognise the importance of individual and collective well-being in the work place – delving into some of the personal tragedies those around him have endured and explaining his motivation to raise the awareness of mental health in the community.
With Mr Kennett’s charismatic presentation concluding to a rapturous applause, Dr Sara Cullen took to the lectern to provide an overview of the findings from her recent whitepaper.
It was quickly evident that Dr Cullen’s presentation would be equally insights her predecessor, as the audience found tremendous value from the observations Dr Cullen provided.
With the formalities concluded, attendees took their chances to network as the evening drew to a successful conclusion.
The CIPS Victorian Regional Committee’s next event will take place this coming Tuesday, 17 May for the region’s monthly networking night. For more information on this free event and to register, please click here:
