The need to revitalise, rather than restructure the UK branch network is identified in one of the most comprehensive branch reviews ever undertaken by CIPS. The branch strategy review (BSR) examined whether branches remained ‘fit for purpose’ and met the needs of members.
The findings show that branches need to expand their vision from, typically, ‘event delivery’ to understanding and responding to local members’ needs more effectively. There is an opportunity to build on the strengths of having a professional presence that is ‘on the ground’ and to develop a stronger local profile and representation.
A report on the branch strategy review (BSR), which was presented to UK branch chairs in June, has gained a positive reaction and will now go to CIPS CEO David Noble before its recommendations are submitted to Council.
