Update from Craig Lardner – Interim MD, CIPS Australasia

CIPS 13 March 2013

I am pleased to say I have landed in the Melbourne offices and we are underway with staff meetings and priority setting for the next 9 months of our financial year.  From this we will build our three year plan to take CIPSA to the growth level that we aspire to. I am grateful for the handover period from Jonathan Dutton who has been in regular contact to ensure we have full momentum during this change period.

I am pleased to say I have landed in the Melbourne offices and we are underway with staff meetings and priority setting for the next 9 months of our financial year.  From this we will build our three year plan to take CIPS Australasia to the growth level that we aspire to.

I am grateful for the handover period from Jonathan Dutton who has been in regular contact to ensure we have full momentum during this change period. I will be in the Melbourne office regularly over the next few months to ensure we achieve our objectives over the rest of the year.

Hal Hiramatsu and Ian Tennant have joined me as the Executive Team and I can assure you we have set our sights on the original goals for the FY13/14 as they were laid down and originally approved. The financials have been aligned to the softer market conditions to ensure achievability. The tougher economic times of our last 12 months builds our resilience and determination to succeed. The suite of services we deliver to our members in Australasia are unchanged. I have no intention, and the board supports us in this, to be anything less than what we currently are.

Our members have become accustomed to the range of core services and CIPS worldwide has proven a high capability in delivering them. We have the right resource in place locally to continue to build on this strong platform, to meet our cost management obligations and move forward with growth. We have the added advantage of access to the resources provided by the CIPS group as a whole, in particular our HQ in the UK to ensure maximum efficiency. Our Professional Advisory Group under chair David Henchcliffe, is active and effective in the advice and professional guidance they develop for our institute.

Their meetings continue to bring us ideas for our planning process. The state regional meetings are running their scheduled local events and I will be able to attend many of these to ensure we benefit from their efforts to grow our profession at the most important place…'the coal-face'.  I have a UK congress meeting  to attend in March to represent our members…as will Steve Rowe as he wraps up his 3 year term for us all… as well as half year budget news to bring you.

I will be in touch in 3 weeks to fill you in on progress. We appreciate your support of the institute that works to support you.
